Product Description

NutraVital® Biotic: your probiotic for cats

NutraVital® Biotic provides probiotics for cats in a pre- and probiotic formulation to support the gut microbiota. It combines two live bacterial cultures with a triple prebiotic combination: beneficial bacteria that work actively in the gut, plus three prebiotic fibres that serve as food for these bacteria.

  • Two bacterial cultures with coating protection: Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus acidophilus, protected by a special coating so they arrive alive in the gut. Two strains for a broader spectrum of action than single-strain products.

  • Triple prebiotic combination: Inulin from chicory root, FOS (fructooligosaccharides) and MOS (mannan-oligosaccharides): three components that specifically nourish beneficial gut bacteria and bind harmful pathogens.

  • Suitable for allergy-prone cats: Contains hydrolysed poultry liver as a palatant. The broken-down proteins are no longer recognised as allergens by the cat's immune system, making it suitable even for cats with food protein allergies.

  • Additionally with minerals: Supports nutrient supply beyond probiotic support alone.

  • Highly palatable and well tolerated: Confirmed in systematic acceptance tests: voluntarily accepted by approximately 80% of cats. No struggle with administration, no stress.

  • 40 g monthly supply: Includes measuring spoon. Simply sprinkle over food, done. Fits into every cat's daily routine.

  • Suitable for every age: For kittens during dietary transition as well as for adult and senior cats.

  • Long-term use: Not just as a one-off course, but as ongoing support for your cat's stomach and digestive function.

How It Works

Cats and probiotics: how NutraVital® Biotic works

Thanks to its coating protection, the probiotics in NutraVital® Biotic reach your cat's gut alive. There they establish themselves, promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms and can support gut microbiota balance.

The two bacterial strains and their functions:

Enterococcus faecium (DSM 10663 / NCIMB 10415): This bacterial species stabilises the gut environment overall. It has a positive influence on the balance between beneficial and harmful bacteria, supporting your cat's natural defences.

Lactobacillus acidophilus (CECT 4529): This bacterium naturally inhabits the gastrointestinal tract of cats. It specifically supports digestion and can contribute to gut microbiota balance.

Two strains that complement each other: Enterococcus faecium regulates the environment, Lactobacillus acidophilus works specifically against harmful pathogens. Together they cover a broader spectrum than single-strain products.

The triple prebiotic combination of inulin, FOS and MOS works at a different level: as indigestible fibres, they reach the colon unchanged and supply beneficial gut bacteria with nutrition. At the same time, MOS binds harmful pathogens for excretion. Probiotics and prebiotics thus work from two sides: one builds up, the other clears out.

Why does this affect more than just digestion? Because a large part of your cat's natural defences is controlled through the gut. A stable gut microbiota is the foundation for your cat's overall wellbeing.

What's more, a stable gut environment improves the absorption of nutrients and vitamins from food. Your cat gets more out of every meal.

Areas of Application

When to use NutraVital® Biotic for cats

Acute and for recovery:

  • During and after antibiotic treatment or medication

  • For acute digestive problems such as diarrhoea or loose stools that may indicate a microbial imbalance

  • For digestive problems, bloating and variable stool consistency

  • During dietary transitions (especially in kittens)

  • For metabolism problems and loss of appetite

  • During stressful situations such as travel, transport or house moves

  • To support coat shedding

Long-term strengthening:

  • To strengthen defences and the immune system, especially in kittens or senior cats

How do you know your cat might need probiotics? Typical signs of a disrupted gut microbiota include recurrent diarrhoea, loose or variable stools, bloating, loss of appetite, a dull or lacklustre coat, skin problems, or frequent vomiting without an apparent cause. Bad breath can also indicate an imbalance in the gastrointestinal tract.

A complementary feed for many situations and life stages: whatever comes, you and your cat are well prepared.

Feeding recommendation

Dosage: For cats, 1 measuring spoon per 5 kg body weight. Maximum 4 measuring spoons per day. 1 measuring spoon = approximately 0.75 g.

Administration: Simply sprinkle the powder over food. Well accepted by cats.

Continuous use recommended: Optimal results are achieved with regular, continuous use. Ongoing feeding is also beneficial alongside normal nutrition, not just for acute problems.

Storage: Store in a dry place, sealed, away from direct sunlight, at room temperature.

Good to Know

Gut microbiota in cats: why gut health matters so much

Cats are obligate carnivores by nature. Their entire gastrointestinal tract is designed for the rapid processing of protein-rich food: a short gut, purely enzymatic digestion, and particularly aggressive stomach acid.

What many cat owners don't realise is that a cat's digestive tract works fundamentally differently from that of humans or dogs. It is shorter, the stomach acid is more aggressive, and the gut microbiota is differently composed. That is why cats need specific products tailored to their physiology. Despite this comparatively simple digestive tract, the microbiome in the cat's gut plays a central role.

The microorganisms that colonise the gut not only promote the uptake of nutrients and minerals but also control a large part of immune defence. In a healthy gut environment, beneficial and harmful bacteria maintain a stable balance. Yet this balance is not a given: the gut microbiota is not innate. It develops and changes throughout life.

Precisely because the cat's gut is so short, disturbances show up particularly quickly: dietary changes, medication or stress can tip the balance. The good news is that you can actively build up and support your cat's gut environment, for example with probiotics.

Pre- and probiotics for cats: what's the difference?

Probiotics are live bacterial cultures that work specifically to restore or maintain balance in the gut. For cats, it is crucial that the bacteria have special coating protection, because the aggressive stomach acid of a carnivore would destroy unprotected cultures before they reach the gut.

Prebiotics take a different approach: as indigestible fibres, they reach the colon unchanged and serve as a nutritional base for beneficial bacteria. Inulin, FOS and MOS each have their own roles, from specifically nourishing good bacteria to binding harmful pathogens.

The combination of prebiotics and probiotics is more effective than either component alone: the probiotic stabilises the gut microbiota, the prebiotic nourishes the healthy bacteria. A dual approach for cat gut health.

If you're looking for gut probiotics for your cat, you don't have to go to the pharmacy: NutraVital® Biotic is available as a complementary feed directly from the manufacturer, with full transparency about composition and ingredients.

Building up gut microbiota in cats: after antibiotics, with diarrhoea and stress

Antibiotic treatment often hits the gut microbiota hard, because the medication clears out beneficial bacteria just as much as harmful ones. Targeted gut recovery in cats after antibiotics can support the rebuilding process and stabilise the gut. But even if you simply want to build up your cat's gut microbiota, whether after illness or as a preventative measure, daily support makes a real difference.

Beyond medication, travel, house moves or dietary changes can also put strain on a cat's gut. Many cat owners have had good experiences with probiotics during these phases, and vets are increasingly recommending their targeted use.

This product is not intended as a short-term measure but as an integral part of daily feeding. What food best supports gut health in cats? High-quality, easily digestible food provides the foundation, and a pre- and probiotic complementary feed such as NutraVital® Biotic complements it effectively. The benefits extend beyond the gut, too: a healthy gut microbiota can activate metabolism and support coat shedding. An active contribution to your cat's overall wellbeing.

Immune system in kittens: why gut health matters from the start

Kittens are in a particularly sensitive phase: their immune defences are not yet fully developed, and each dietary change challenges the young organism. Because the gut plays such a central role in immune function, a complementary feed to strengthen the immune system can make a difference for kittens early on. The sooner a healthy gut environment is established, the better the foundation for healthy development.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the product

The key questions about NutraVital® Biotic for cats. Still have questions? Feel free to send us a message via our contact form.

Probiotics are live microorganisms that actively support your cat's gut microbiota. This product contains two specifically selected cultures that promote the growth of healthy gut bacteria and suppress unwanted pathogens. At the same time, stable digestion can improve the absorption of minerals and nutrients.
This product specifically supports gut recovery in cats with two bacterial cultures and triple prebiotic action from inulin, FOS and MOS. This can stabilise and regulate digestion. For persistent diarrhoea, we also recommend consulting your vet.
Yes. A probiotic complementary feed is particularly beneficial after antibiotic treatment. Probiotics can support the recovery of weakened gut colonisation. We recommend starting after the course of treatment ends, or, in consultation with your vet, feeding it alongside the medication.
Typical signs include recurrent diarrhoea, loose or variable stools, bloating, loss of appetite, a dull or lacklustre coat, or skin problems. Frequent vomiting without an apparent cause can also point to disrupted gut microbiota. If your cat shows these symptoms after antibiotic treatment, a dietary change or a stressful period, the balance of gut bacteria may have been upset. For persistent symptoms, we recommend having your vet investigate the cause.
We recommend continuous, regular use. Unlike short-term supplements, NutraVital® Biotic achieves the best results with ongoing daily feeding. Long-term use can also be beneficial as a preventative measure.
Yes. NutraVital® Biotic contains hydrolysed poultry liver as a palatant. Through hydrolysis, the proteins are broken down so extensively that they are usually no longer recognised as allergens by the cat's immune system. So your sensitive cat benefits from probiotic support without the risk of triggering allergies. 100% natural. For greater wellbeing.
Constipation in cats can be linked to a disrupted gut microbiota, among other things. Probiotics and prebiotics support natural gut function, and inulin and FOS promote bowel movement as fibres. For persistent constipation, a vet should investigate the cause.
Generally, yes. With antibiotics, we recommend staggering the probiotic so it's not given in the same meal, to avoid directly affecting the bacterial cultures. Alternatively, you can start feeding it after the course of antibiotics ends. If you're unsure, have a quick word with your vet.
NutraVital® Biotic is accepted without problems by most cats, because the hydrolysed poultry liver acts as a natural palatant. If your cat is still sceptical, try mixing the powder into wet food, where it dissolves better and the taste blends into the meal. With dry food, you can lightly dampen the kibble first so the powder sticks. If needed, start with a smaller amount and gradually increase to the full dosage.
